Dear Ana,

Well... I have been maintaining my weight, which is better than if I had gained...
But, I'm still not satisfied by a long shot.

I think it's because I've been trying to go straight for a water fast without doing any sort of preparation..
I have no idea how to fast without losing my mind.

So, I think I'm going to do a juice fast, since it's near to no calories, and even with the calories, it's not enough to even cause me to maintain.. I will have to lose.

Beyond that, juice has a variety of tastes and flavors, fruit, vegetable, herb... there is still a lot of wiggle room for me to become accustomed to. That's what I think my problem with a water fast is. I think it's because it's basically either water or tea... I can't drink much tea because of acid wear on my teeth... I drink too much anyway, and I don't want to tip the scales and fuck it up even more. Water and tea doesn't give me much of a chance to experiment with different tastes and flavors.

So, starting tonight... Right now actually [6:22 pm, and I'm having a 16 oz. glass of orange juice] I'm going on a STRICT juice only fast.

We have a juicer, so all I need is fresh fruit and I'm in business... Other than that, I'll still allow for some of the 'Simply' juices. They're not from concentrate, and they're about as natural as bottled juice can get.

I feel really good about this...

Plus, I've kind of given up smoking. I think I'll only have a cigarette every once in a while. Not every day like I have been doing for the past 3 years. I really want to detox my body along with this juice fast, and adding tar to my lungs is just gonna screw everything up... And besides that, I want to go back to running every day, which is really hard to do with black lungs...

If anyone is interested in doing an independent/together juice fast with me, just go to that website I told you about the other day [i.e. allaboutfasting.com] and click on the link that says juice fasting. They also have information on tons of other types of fasts like water, fruit, rice and more.

They also have a nifty little section on ketosis. But you have to read around the site to find a link to it. It's not on the home page like I would very much like it to be =]

  2. good luck! that sounds like a good idea - ease yourself into it. juice will give you a little bit of energy too. i'm definitely checking out that site! i might be inspired to do some kind of fast haha
